Reasons Why Nigerian Boys Must Do House Chores

In Nigerian society, some sections believe that house chores are only a woman thing and boys shouldn’t do that.

Household chores like cleaning, washing, and cooking are perceived as demeaning to men’s ego and reserved for the girls.

All these were before when men were still expected to be tough, daring and not associate themselves with feminine tasks. These days, many parents are teaching their boys to do house chores.

And here are 5 reasons why:

1. Chores Are Basic Survival Skills

Every human being regardless of sex should be able to take care of themselves and their surroundings.

Both girls and boys should be able to do simple things like clean, cook, wash plates and do other things around the house.

It’s a helpful skill everyone should have.

2. So That They Can Be Independent

Parents who teach their sons to do house chores, do this to prepare them for life.

It will be very convenient for him if he can do house chores to be able to take care of himself.

3.Promote Equality In The House Hold

Most parents who are evolved, like to have a household where everybody helps out.

Chores can be difficult to complete, especially in a large household. The women can’t do everything at once and the boys at home can help lessen their burden by doing some of those chores.

It is not about being a boy or a girl, it is about creating a family where everybody contributes.

4. Be Good Husbands

A man who can do house chores is not just a good spouse but a real role model.

He won’t be a liability and but an asset to his family.

He will become a man who reduces her workload when his wife is too tired to do the chores, or they are heavily pregnant.

5. The World Is Changing

The world is no longer as it used to be, it is changing.

We are striving for equality and to stamp out toxic masculinity.
